Hucklebuck + Hollister Update

My tenure may be over at Hollister, but the aftershocks are still happening. A couple of packages I designed in August just set in stores this week. Mostly applique dominant with embroidery and print. To see both packages check out the Hollister site at Color on Nuetral or Color on Color. Here are a few of the tees from the full sets.

Bread Art

I recently worked on some conceptual bread art for one of the chain bakeries. Here's a look at the result. Makes me want a ham and swiss on tomato basil...mmmm my favorite.

Civil War LOC finds

Some great Civil war era envelope graphics I ran across a few years ago. Pretty great.

NINI'S BAKING CO.

Poster + Mailer in the works...

I am working on some ideas for a poster for an event at the Westcott House here in Springfield. The event is the opening of a show that features concepts for the development of the back lot behind the Westcott House. Miami University students have put together proposals. Some were based on the Froebel paper crafts.

This type direction is a reference to the paper weaving and the architectural plans kind of working together as space.

Bizarre Image Folder

I have been keeping an image folder on my computer for roughly seven years now. It's a place where I save any off image that I come across on the web. They range from truly bizarre to just interesting imagery.

Here are a few from the bizarre folder. This will be a weekly post from now on. Unfortunately I failed to site the sources of each image as I collected them.

Hucklebuck Vocab Spreads

These are a few spreads I did while in one of my grad school classes called Crossing Borders. It was a course in which we engaged in post-colonial discourse and so on. This was a project where we visualized terms from the semester.

My new nickname

Some more found type.

Latest find from the LOC

So I am a big historical type nerd and am always snooping around the Library of Congress' site for great type inspiration. I came across this little gem last night from 1881. Pretty incredible. Enjoy.

Hucklebuck Hot Rod

Found this pic this weekend and thought it was share worthy. I'm the blonde guy on the right. The other guy is my best friend Josh. The 74 Olds Omega (The Beast) was my High School Hot Rod. A 327 small block and a spray paint flame job. Good times indeed.

NEW HUCKLEBUCK SITE COMING END OF JAN!

For anyone that has wandered onto hucklebuckdesign.com in the last few months you've been taken here, to my blog. That's because in September I took down the Hucklebuck site to work on an overhaul. I have 3-4 years worth of work that I have been sifting through that has never seen the light of the interwebs. Keep your eyes peeled like little green grapes for the new site, which will be up the last week on January. Here's a low res, non programmed thumbnail of how the new site is going to be formatted. new site sneak peek

HUCKLEBUCK SPOTTED ON AMERICAN IDOL

Hucklebuck is officially a part of the American Idol lore. On the premiere tonight my old art director from Hollister spotted this shirt I did while a member of the HCO dudes team. This tee was given a death sentence by the merchant team. Funny to see it pop up on American Idol. I wish that the guy wearing didn't suck. Other than that pretty fun to see.

Hucklebuck + Bloodroots

I did some work for a group called BLOODROOTS over the past year. I designed a set of graphic tees that will help them raise money for the or African ministry. From their website... "We at Bloodroots are committed long-term in helping orphans and widows in distress due to war, disease, and other life taking events. We are currently seeking genuine ways to offer opportunities to the seemingly hopeless lives in Uganda." As designers there sometimes seems like there is little we can do to affect the world, this was an opportunity to at least have some impact.

They are still working through the production. To check out their websites go to ...
