Meeting Chip Kidd

While my former business partner and I were kickin it back in the day with the Former Factory Design Co™, we had the opportunity to meet Chip Kidd in his office in Manhattan. Great guy. We had just come off of the Express Hang Tag project which Chip had also been comissioned. We met him the night before at the artist reception party and he invited us to drop by. Old pic, this was back in 03.

Impending Hucklebuck Font Studio

I am working on a type design co., once the name and branding are done I'll post the site. For now here is my latest type creation. The font studio will focus on the extraction of existing typography from our environment and extending the found characters into a True Type display alphabet. This first sample was extracted from this page that I found in an old model airplane magazine. The characters are a bit familiar, but truly unique and totally vintage.

I haven't made an actual True type font from these yet, but to download the vector set of these characters control click here

Cloth Alphabet Book

Found this beauty at the local Antique mall a while back. It's an antique cloth ABC book for children. Pretty rad type prints in here with some great illustrations. Enjoy

Growing Pains

What do you say here but amazing.

Westcott Poster Inspiration

The students who developed the plans that will be on display for the exhibit drew inspiration from Friedrich Fröbel, the man who developed many of the learning tools we use now for young children and the inventor of Kindergarten. One of his main learning crafts was to use paper weaving to develop creativity and problem solving. Here are a few of the images I pulled for reference. These lead me into the idea of representing paper waeving with the title typography for the event. As shown below. The architectural elements relate to the development plans done by the students.

ID and Registration Please

I was pulling some reference for a passport themed design a few years back and found a bunch of great ID scans. So many different ideas of how to construct a form and all of the different elements are really interesting.

Hucklebuck + Hollister Update

My tenure may be over at Hollister, but the aftershocks are still happening. A couple of packages I designed in August just set in stores this week. Mostly applique dominant with embroidery and print. To see both packages check out the Hollister site at Color on Nuetral or Color on Color. Here are a few of the tees from the full sets.
